Basil - Sweet Thai (Organic)
Sweet Thai Basil (Ocimum basilicum) is a type of basil native to Southeast Asia that has been cultivated due to its taste and toughness. The Thai Basil has a licorice-like, slightly spicy flavor and can tolerate higher temperatures especially during cooking. The spicy flavor is reminiscent of Anise and Cloves and it goes well in curries and other Asian dishes. The Thai Basil plant has small, narrow leaves, purple stems, and pink-purple flowers.

Growing Info: Annual. Germination: 5-14 days, 70-75°F. Harvest starts about 10 weeks after sowing. Basil is a pick-and-come-again herb which produces well when heavily picked. Grows best in well-drained rich soil. Start seeds indoors 4 weeks then transfer outside. Lightly cover seed (no more than two times the depth of the seed).
Health Benefits: Basil has been used as a carminative (relief from gas). Research indicates that it may inhibit gastric acid secretion.
