GARDEN AND LAWN FERTILIZERS
Fertilizers are natural or synthetic materials that supply plants with nutrients to increase their productivity. Fertilizers are applied to the soil or directly on the plant. There are many different types of fertilizers coming in many forms, but the three main types of fertilizers are granular, time-released, and liquid. Each fertilizer has advantages or disadvantages depending on your needs.
There are general or all-purpose fertilizers which can usually be applied all over the property. Then there are specific fertilizers engineered to enhance specific plants like Bougainvillea Plant Food (6-8-10) & HibisGain Hibiscus Plant Food (12-6-8).
Fertilizers contain the essential nutrients required by plants - Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium among others. The 3 numbers on a typical bag of fertilizer depicts these three main levels in percentage. Example: Southern AG® Bloom Booster Fertilizer is a 10-30-20 mix - meaning it has 10% Nitrogen, 30% Phosphorus, & 20% Potassium.
