Blue Lake Green Bean pods have a similar appearance to the pole variety of Blue Lake beans. These bush green beans have 6.5" long rounded pods. Growing Info: This bean variety reaches maturity in roughly 55-60 days, so we recommend harvesting your pods around this time. Bush beans are determinate and therefore the pods on this plant will last about 3 weeks post maturation before the plants begin to wither. Sow seeds when the soil is warm, and all danger of frost is past. Soaking seeds overnight before planting will speed germination. Thin to one (1) plant every 4" when the plants have four true leaves. Pick early and often to encourage production. Sow these seeds every two weeks up until eight weeks before fall.
Suggestions: Avoid working around beans when wet as this may spread diseases. When weeding, hoe gently because beans are shallow rooted. Mulch plants only after thinning.
