The Bougainvillea is a very colorful and thorny vine-like plant that is popular in the Bahamas and in other warm regions. Part of the Nyctaginaceae family, this ornamental vine-bush can grow anywhere from 3 to a 40 feet tall. The Bougainvillea plant comes in a many flowering colors to brighten up your yard space. Some of these colors are orange, pink, purple, red, white, and yellow.
To grow bougainvillea, plant in full sun. Slightly acidic and well-draining soil is best. Water sparingly, fertilizing every few months. Pruning should be done on regular intervals to keep its shape and not to over-grow.
