Squash - White Bush Scallop
The early White Bush Scallop Squash is one of the best white summer squashes. The bush type plants produce tender fruits that are best when 4 to 6 inches in diameter. This delicious squash has a mild, sweet flavor and a firm, tender texture. Fruits are low in calories and a good source of vitamin A.
- FM Squash Seeds 4.5 g packet
Growing Info: 50 days to bloom after germination. After all danger of frost, in a sunny location, sow 5 seeds spaced evenly over a hill 9 to 12 inches tall and 2 feet across. When the plants are 3 inches tall, thin by cutting all but the 3 strongest seedlings per hill. To avoid weeding, mulch heavily around plants and in the rows.
Suggestions: Pick summer squash early and often. Not picking will stop the production of the plants. Ready to harvest just after blossom falls from fruit and fruit can be easily dented with a thumbnail.
Health Benefits: Squash is high in vitamins A, B6, and C, folate, magnesium, fiber, riboflavin, phosphorus, and potassium.
