Squash - Early Prolific Straight Neck (Organic)
Early Prolific Straight Neck Squash is an All-American Selection. This exceptionally productive variety of organic summer squash bears fruits that can be eaten when 4 to 12 inches long and are high in vitamin A. The flesh is also tender and delicious. Mild with a slight nutty flavor, and a buttery hint when cooked. Slice this variety thinly as a pasta substitute in lasagna.

Growing Info: 50 days to mature after germination. In a sunny location, sow a few seeds spaced evenly over a hill 9 to 12 inches tall and 2 feet across. When the plants are 3 inches tall, thin by cutting all but the 3 strongest seedlings per hill. To avoid weeding, mulch heavily around plants and in the rows.
Suggestions: Pick summer squash early and often. Not picking will stop production of plants. Black Beauty Zucchini is ready to harvest just after blossoms fall from fruit and fruit can be easily dented with a thumbnail.
