Swiss Chard - Organic Ruby Red Rhubarb
Grow organic Ruby Red Swiss Chard in the Bahamas with seeds from FOX HILL NURSERY in 50 days. Ruby Red Swiss Chard (beta vulgaris) or Rhubarb Swiss Chard, is a wonderful addition to any garden. Rhubarbs foliage are dark green on ruby-red stalks. The bright color extends into the leaf veins of the dark green, heavily crumpled leaves. Swiss Chard Ruby is a good yielder all summer and into the Fall. It's delicious in salads or cooked. These very ornamental plants reach 18-24 inches. It has a sweet and earthy taste. Steam with other greens or add to salads
Growing Info: 50-60 days to mature after germination. Sow in outdoor rows as soon as the ground can be worked. Place 1 seed every 3 inches and cover firmly with soil. Prefers full sun. Thin to 6 inches apart when plants are 3 inches tall. Use trimmings as fresh greens. Keep plants heavily mulched and moist.
Suggestions: When plants are 7 inches tall, cut outer leaves at soil level with a sharp knife. Harvest will continue all season if inside leaves are permitted to grow.
