Cucumber - Organic Ashley
The Ashley Cucumber (cucumis sativus) is recommended for hot, humid areas. Developed in South Carolina, this heirloom variety of cucumber is resistant to some forms of fungus and diseases including Good Downy Mildew. The Ashley Cucumber has productive vines that produce 6-8 inch dark-green fruits, tapered on the stem end. A popular variety in the Southeast, these cucumbers are commonly sold in farmer’s markets.

Health Benefits: Cucumbers contain antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, and anti-cancer properties. The peel and seeds are the most nutrient-dense parts of the plant, containing high amounts of fiber and high concentrations of beta-carotene. A great source of vitamins and minerals, they contain high concentrations of calcium. Cucumbers are naturally low in calories, sodium, fat, and cholesterol. About 4 percent of the daily recommended intake of vitamin K, vitamin C, magnesium, potassium, manganese, and vitamin A can be found in a cucumber.
