The Mexican Sour Gherkin (melothria scabra) also known as Mouse Melon, and Cucamelon, is a vine that grows edible fruit that resemble small watermelons, the size of grapes. The fruit tastes like sour cucumbers. This plant is native to Mexico and Central America, where it is called Sandita, which means "little watermelon". Immature fruit taste like Gherkins, and when fully mature, they taste like pickled cucumbers.
